What can you do if your kids just won’t eat breakfast?
You know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it can be a little disconcerting when your kids either don’t want to eat breakfast or aren’t hungry in the morning. Here are a few ideas to help get them interested:
Research shows that educating kids about the benefits of foods makes them more receptive to eating them. So make them aware of all of breakfast’s benefits (such as helping them concentrate at school and getting them through to morning tea).
Get them involved in breakfast by giving them options. For example, keep a few different types of breakfast cereals on hand and allow them to choose their own breakfast.
Start slow – getting them to eat something, even if it is small, such as a slice of toast or banana, is a great start. Gradually they will become used to eating in the morning.
Get them involved in cooking new breakfast recipes on weekends.
Try having a ‘treat’ breakfast at a café occasionally.
