Healthy snacks are an important way for kids to get the nutrition they need. HFG dietitian Zoe Wilson shares her top 10 packaged snack choices.
Snacking is an important way for kids to keep going through the day. When they go through a growth spurt or if they are very active, kids may not be able to get all the energy they need from main meals alone.
However, it’s important to remember that snacks should contain less than 600kJ, and should provide a variety of nutrients. While children need to include unprocessed snacks – like fruit and vegies, reduced-fat dairy and wholegrain breads and cereals – in their day, we’ve come up with a list of packaged snacks to help make filling lunchboxes easier (and healthier!).
