With the silly season fast approaching I know lots of my clients are worried about how to navigate their way through and still feel great in the New Year.
While many of us do gain a bit of weight, a few easy tips and tricks can mean you don’t have to.
To help you enjoy yourself and indulge a little without going overboard, my three favourite tips are:
Stock up on fresh, nutritious ingredients so it’s fast and easy to eat well when you’re not out socialising. Fill your trolley with super-sized supplies of salad vegies for healthy lunches and dinners, wholegrain breads and cereals for a good brekkie and lots of fresh summer fruit, yoghurt, nuts, hummous and grainy crackers for satisfying snacks.
Prioritise your exercise – do your best not to let exercise slip off the agenda as you get busier. Instead, make sure you stick to your regular routine or even ramp it up a little so you get a boost in energy and productivity, meaning you’ll get everything done in record time!
Drink like a fish – water, that is, not alcohol! Keeping hydrated will help you manage your hunger levels and make sure when you’re out, you’re not drinking alcohol to quench a thirst.
There are many more tips I have for you in the December 2012 issue of HFG, so make sure you have a look. At the end of the day, the most important thing to remember is that this time of year is about enjoyment and treating yourself is a must, as long as it’s in moderation. I hope you have a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year!
