Full ingredients list:
- 2 skinless chicken breasts, trimmed of fat
- 1 small star anise (or pinch five spice powder)
- 4 cups water
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 5cm piece ginger, grated
- 85g instant noodles in a cup
- 2 cups chopped Chinese cabbage
- 1 cup fresh bean sprouts, rinsed
- 2 shallots, sliced

Instructions and steps:
Step 1 Place chicken breast and star anise in a saucepan with enough water to cover. Simmer gently for 10 minutes or until cooked. Drain and cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2 Put 4 cups water in another saucepan with garlic, ginger and noodles. Bring to the boil and simmer for 3 minutes. Add Chinese cabbage and flavour sachet from instant noodles. Simmer for 3 minutes.
Step 3 Stir in chicken and bean sprouts, ladle into serving bowls and top with sliced shallots.
