Full ingredients list:
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 wide strips lemon zest
- 4 medium (approx 800g) firm ripe nashi pears, peeled, quartered, cored
- 4 small scoops low-fat vanilla ice-cream

Instructions and steps:
Step 1 Place sugar, cinnamon, lemon and 3 cups water into a saucepan. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 2 Add pears and poach for 15 minutes, or until tender. To serve, divide pears between 4 serving bowls, drizzle with a little of the cinnamon syrup and serve with ice-cream.
