Full ingredients list:
- 1 cup low-fat strawberry yoghurt
- 4 trays ice cubes
- 1/4 cup salt
Nutritional information (per serve)
Instructions and steps:
Step 1 Pour yoghurt into a zip-lock sandwich bag and seal well.
Step 2 Place ice cubes into a plastic shopping bag that doesn’t have holes. Smash bag a few times on the ground to break up ice cubes. Add salt. Place sealed yoghurt bag in the middle of plastic bag with ice cubes.
Step 3 Tie up ice-cube bag so that it seals. Shake lightly for about 10 minutes. If the mixture in the sealed bag isn’t thick, shake for a longer time. Take zip-lock bag out and rinse quickly under cold water to wash away salty slush.
Step 4 Serve in mini ramekins.
- Make it dairy-free: Instead of yoghurt, use a cup of your favourite juice.
- Mush a banana or a punnet of strawberries and use fruit pulp instead of yoghurt.
- Use any yoghurt flavour.
It's fun food science! When food touches ice, it creates heat, melting the ice. But at the same time, the ice stays cold enough to freeze the yoghurt.
